Lord knows the last thing I want to do is draw any more attention to Portland bike enthusiasts, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t introduce you to Blind Pilot, another great Portland band to emerge in the last few years. These guys started as a duo and toured on their bikes up and down the west coast. Generally that is the type of thing to make me want to vomit, and so I am pleased that they have expanded to a band of six people and bought a van (apologies to Al Gore).
In any case, Blind Pilot make really lovely indie folk/pop that manages to be not at all annoying, not unlike Horse Feathers who I wrote about here last week. So far, they’ve put out out one full-length release, Three Rounds and a Sound, and they’ve been getting a little mainstream attention with a new iTunes live session and (oddly) an appearance on CNN. Give ‘em a listen. Hopefully they won’t make you vomit.

Awesome. It’s great to now have a new source of info for local music.
Cheers!

Saw them in ’09 at Sasquatch and was instantly entranced. I had their Three Rounds and a Sound disc in my hot little hands before I left the venue. Fantastic stuff.
